Jason Sudeikis, known for his hilarious antics as a Saturday Night Live alum, and Olivia Wilde, director of the hit film Booksmart, have had their fair share of ups and downs in love. The two met in 2011 following their respective divorces from Kay Cannon and Tao Ruspoli.

Sudeikis revealed during a 2017 appearance on The Late Late Show With Stephen Colbert that he was initially hesitant to make any moves towards Wilde due to rumors spread by mutual friends. 'I actually came off looking a lot cooler than I really am because I had heard through the grapevine, through mutual friends that weren’t exactly her best girlfriends, that would report back, ‘Oh, you know, I think she’s dating someone,’ so I didn’t make any sort of moves,' he recalled.

Despite their initial hesitation, the couple did eventually get together and have been in a relationship ever since. In an interview with Net-a-Porter's Porter Edit in February 2016, Wilde explained that becoming parents to son Otis and daughter Daisy alongside Sudeikis was a stronger commitment for them than tying the knot.

The Tron: Legacy star also opened up about her feelings towards Sudeikis during their initial interactions. 'He seemed to really see me, see through the bulls–t,' she said. 'We were both seeing people but were single.'

Wilde revealed that she wasn't necessarily looking for love when she first met Sudeikis, adding, 'I was just learning to be by myself I’d been divorced nine months.' Her separation from Ruspoli had given her the courage to leave and ultimately led her to Sudeikis.

In a Marie Claire cover story in April 2013, Wilde spoke about how she had grown up with Ruspoli but eventually drifted apart. 'I felt I had something to prove,' she explained. 'If you fall off a horse, you get back up.'

The couple announced their engagement in 2013 and have since become one of Hollywood's most beloved and private couples. Despite the ups and downs they've faced, Wilde credits her past heartbreak with bringing her to Sudeikis.

'I’m so grateful for the pain and the heartbreak,' she said. 'I hung on for as long as possible, until it was more hurtful to stay.' In the end, Wilde's decision to leave Ruspoli led her to the great love of her life – Jason Sudeikis.
